BT App Challenge

As part of STEM Challenges (ten activities that have been inspired by London 2012), STEMNET and BT have launched a competition challenging pupils to design an app that provides useful information, communicated and accessed in the best way possible, to contribute towards making London 2012 Everyone's Games.

The competition is open to all pupils aged 11-14 years from across the UK, with the following prizes being awarded:

- 1st place - £1000 of STEM Club equipment and a unique experience prize donated by BT
- 2nd place - £750 of STEM Club equipment
- 3rd place - £500 of STEM Club equipment

The full competition brief, including teacher notes and other support materials, can be found on the STEM Challenges website.

An introductory video to the BT App Challenge can be viewed here.

All teams wishing to enter need to register via the STEM Challenges website by Wednesday 13 July 2011.

NOTE: teams are NOT required to submit a competition entry via the website by the above date, they just need to register - all competition entries will be judged at a local event in late September 2011. Teachers will be contacted by their local Judging co-ordinator before the end of the summer term with proposed dates for the local judging sessions in late September.

The top eight teams from across the UK will be selected to battle it out at the National Final in October 2011.
