Competition offers six A-level students the chance to meet and interview Professor Sir Harry Kroto

Professor Sir Harry Kroto is delivering a Royal Institution Friday Evening Discourse at 8pm on Friday 24 June on 'Carbon in nano and outer space'. This competition, run by the Royal Institution and the Leaders Award for STEM, offers six students (aged 17-19) the opportunity to meet and interview Professor Kroto at 6.00pm before the discourse, as part of the Leaders Award for STEM; the prize will also include free tickets into the event itself for the students and one accompanying adult per student.

How to enter:

Each student must write an individual letter of application to become an Advanced Leader for STEM. Those students already registered will be required to write a letter outlining why this opportunity would benefit them. Further guidance is available from the Leaders Award website. All letters will then need to be submitted electronically to editor@leadersaward.com.

This competition is only open to students aged 17-19.

Deadline for entries - 1 June 2011

Winners will be notified by 6 June.

Professor Kroto is a British chemist and one of the three recipients to share the 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He is currently a Francis Eppes Professor of Chemistry at Florida State University, where he is carrying out research in nanoscience and cluster chemistry as well as developing exciting new internet approaches to STEM educational outreach.
