Considering the Mathematics Specialist Teacher programme? Find out what support NCETM could offer you

The Mathematics Specialist Teacher (MaST) Programme has been designed to address the need for an increase in the number of primary school teachers, the Mathematics Specialists, who can implement improvements in the teaching and learning of mathematics for all children in their school.

As well as the opportunity to develop and improve mathematics in your primary school, completion of the MaST programme contributes to your own professional development and is awarded 60 CATs points at Masters level (one third of a Masters degree). Up-to-date information about the programme - who is eligible, how to apply, funding arrangements - can all be found on the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics' (NCETM) MaST pages. The National Centre is able to support all MaST teachers: those thinking of joining, those currently training, and those who have completed the programme.

A new cohort will start the programme in October 2011: there are eight universities who provide the training, and they are recruiting now for October. Contact details for the MaST co-ordinator at each of the MaST universities is just one of the things you will find on the NCETM's MaST pages.
