Free Public Engagement Training for Engineers

The Times Cheltenham Science Festival, with support from the Royal Academy of Engineering, is running its intensive training programme for engineers again this year. It offers 12 engineers an intensive programme, including practical training in presentation and communication skills, plus the chance to deliver events at the Festival, with full support from experienced presenters and trainers. You will also be able to attend events and network with the world-class engineers, scientists and presenters who come to the Festival.

Requirements for applicants:

  • You must be 21, and a qualified engineer working or studying in the UK
  • You do not need any experience of talking to the public, but you will need to show evidence that you are interested in public engagement
  • This is a six-day training programme, therefore, you must be available from June 7 - 12, with no other commitments.

To apply, visit this URL and fill in a short application form before midnight on May 15 2011. Shortlisted applicants will be telephoned the following week, and you will know whether you have been selected by May 23.
