Funding for researchers to work with secondary schools to enrich the curriculum

Research Councils UK (RCUK) have been working on an exciting new development to enhance the curriculum, enrich learning and engage pupils aged 11-19 with contemporary research and researchers. Researchers make excellent role models for young people and can play a key role in motivating students raising ambition and bringing subjects to life with their expert knowledge and enthusiasm.

Secondary schools will be key partners for this initiative. The call for bids opens on 18 June 2012 and close 25 September 2012. Schools will not be eligible to apply for the funding directly, but they may be approached by the UK's top research-funded higher education institutions that want to bid for awards to commence in January 2013 for a three year period. RCUK is keen that schools are equitable partners in the bids, and this could include resources being allocated to them to enable this. Further details on the call will be available at: http://www.rcuk.ac.uk/per/Pages/Schools.aspx
