ITCH - the explosive adventures of an element hunter

Today marks the publication of broadcaster Simon Mayo’s EXPLOSIVE new book ITCH.

Itchingham Lofte - known as Itch - is fourteen, and loves science - especially chemistry. His hobby of collecting all the elements in the periodic table gets him into some highly explosive situations. When Itch makes a discovery, a new element that’s never been seen before, he has to use all his wits and scientific knowledge to stop others getting hold of it...

This book provides another opportunity to introduce and explore National Science & Engineering Week (9-18 March 2012) with your students.

The National STEM Centre has produced a special collection of resources on the eLibrary to support the release of the new novel. The Elements collection contains resources which can be used to support the teaching of elements and the periodic table.

The publishers of the book are giving you the chance to WIN copies of the book, periodic table posters and teaching resources.

Simon Mayo is best known for his BBC Radio 2 Drivetime show and has spent every morning before going on air for the last 18 months writing ITCH. The story grew out of a desire to create something for his son Joe, an avid reader and science nut. Simon was also inspired to by almost ten years of meeting and interviewing scientists for his show on Radio 5 Live.
