Nominations now open for STEMNET Awards 2011

The STEMNET Awards aim to recognise the UK's most inspirational people for motivating young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The prize (sponsored by the Science and Technology Facilities Council) for the winners of each of the five categories is a day trip to the CERN facility in Switzerland. The winners will be announced at the STEMNET Awards 2011 Final taking place at the House of Lords on 13 December, hosted by Lord Sainsbury.

Entrants can nominate themselves, or be nominated by others between 5 September - 3 October, in the following awards categories:

  • Most Dedicated STEM Ambassador - for those Ambassadors who have made a significant contribution to the programme
  • Most Dedicated Employer - for those employers that have supported their employees to become a STEM Ambassador and then to actively engage through them with their local schools
  • Most Dedicated Teacher - for those teachers who have proactively engaged with the programme for the benefit of their pupils and school
  • Most Dedicated STEM Club - for those STEM Clubs which have proactively engaged with the programme for the benefit of their pupils and school
  • Most Inspirational Technician - to recognise the work of a technician who can demonstrate that they have inspired young people to follow technician career routes

There is no limit to the number of categories you can nominate in and all finalists will be decided by an expert panel.

The closing date for nominations is Monday 3 October. If you require further information please contact Natasha Warren at events@stemnet.org.uk.
