Opportunities at the National STEM Centre

Recruiting: Website Editor

National STEM Centre Website Editor, York

The National STEM Centre was established in 2008 with funding from the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. In 2009 the Centre was awarded funding from the European Space Agency (ESA) and Department for Children, Schools and Families to establish the UK's European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO).

We are now seeking to recruit a Website Editor to maintain and update both the National STEM Centre's communications website and the ESERO-UK site, which will become a national hub for information and resources to support space education.

You will have knowledge and experience of the complete editorial and production cycle of maintaining and updating websites, and will be responsible for sourcing and maintaining content, and producing communications for stakeholders, teachers and lecturers. Candidates must have excellent communication and organisational skills, and be able to prioritise a busy workload.

Based in newly appointed facilities, co-located with the National Science Learning Centre on the campus of the University of York, you will join a committed and professional team in realising the vision of the National STEM Centre. Experience of working in an educational environment is not essential, but candidates must share our commitment to providing high-quality support for teachers and lecturers of STEM subjects.

You should have excellent communication, teamwork, project and organisational skills together with a capacity for hard work and the ability to work flexibly under pressure to targets. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate careful attention to detail in their work, as well as workload planning and prioritisation experience. You will have experience of metadata creation and knowledge of current standards, and an understanding of copyright issues related to repositories.
