Partnership Grants Funding Workshop, Tuesday 23 November

The Royal Society’s education section is organising a Partnership Grants funding workshop on Tuesday 23 November, 17.30 – 19.30. The Partnership Grants scheme offers funding of up to £3,000 for teachers, scientists and engineers to work together to inspire young people aged 5 – 19. Fantastic projects can be created by partnerships like these, allowing teachers to increase their scientific knowledge and giving scientists and engineers the chance to develop their communication skills and engage with enquiring young minds. Perhaps most importantly, these projects give school students a taste of how science and engineering are relevant today.

This funding workshop is aimed at teachers, scientists and engineers who are interested in applying to the scheme. It will give you the opportunity to find out what makes a good application for funding and how to develop a successful Partnership Grant project. It is also a great opportunity for teachers, scientists and engineers to meet and possibly build some useful contacts.

The event will be held at the Royal Society in London (6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AG), on Tuesday 23 November, from 17.30 to 19.30. If you would like to attend this event, please email the Royal Society at education@royalsociety.org before Friday 12 November. The event is free to attend but prospective delegates will need to register as there are limited places. Refreshments will be provided.

You can find out more about the scheme, including application guidelines and examples of previously funded projects at www.royalsociety.org/partnership. The next round of the Partnership Grant scheme will open on 3 January 2011.
