Promoting STEM Careers in Your Classroom

Date: 17 - 18 March 2011

A fantastic opportunity for STEM staff to attend this definitive STEM careers awareness experience.

Students who study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects acquire analytical and problem solving abilities that are highly attractive to potential employers. Therefore it is important to highlight to young people the career opportunities available to them from studying STEM subjects further.

This conference will provide a wealth of resources and information to raise awareness about the exciting STEM related careers available to young people. Designed for teachers of STEM subjects from KS3 through to Post-16, this event will highlight resources and opportunities to promote careers in the curriculum. You will hear from schools who have successfully integrated STEM careers awareness into their curriculum.

Delegates will have the chance to meet major stakeholders, including the Department for Education’s STEM Cohesion
Team, and network with regional STEM organisations. Discover what is available for your pupils and speak with experts from industry, engineering, higher education and other STEM professionals on the spectrum of careers opportunities in their fields.

There will also be opportunities to:

  • participate in workshops offered by organisations who
work in schools and colleges to promote careers in STEM
  • evaluate and collect a large range of STEM careers
activities for use in school or college
  • explore how increasing STEM careers awareness can
help to enrich your pupils’ experiences and meet the
    needs of the new curriculum

All teachers, tutors and lecturers from maintained schools or colleges on this conference will be eligible for an ENTHUSE Award to cover their costs plus a small amount to help implement their ideas back in the classroom.

ENTHUSE Award value: £351 + VAT
