Royal Academy of Engineering Teacher Coordinators

The Royal Academy of Engineering is looking to recruit a number of Teacher Coordinators, who will be tasked with building up a local network of schools and teachers across STEM subject areas to widen participation in STEM at KS3 and beyond. As well as being an excellent CPD opportunity and bringing a level of prestige to participating schools, the Teacher Coordinators will also be paid £4200 per annum with the expectation of them dedicating half a day a week to the position.

The Teacher Coordinators will work with teachers to provide them with the tools to help illustrate to students the role of engineering in society and how engineers help shape our world and improve our lives. Central to this will be the issue of engaging girls as well as boys and black and ethnic minorities (BMEs) into STEM by showing what a varied career it can ultimately lead to.

The Role Profile and key skills are available to download below, but as an addition to that there are a few other important points to mention:

  • Teacher Coordinators will be expected to build in local needs to the development of the network
  • Teacher Coordinators will be required to attend a limited number of meetings a year at the Royal Academy of Engineering in London, along with a 1-day induction course

Those wishing to apply to become a Teacher Coordinator will need to send their CV to melanie.washington@raeng.org.uk along with a covering letter outlining how they would set up and run a teacher network in your area by Friday 29 July. Interviews will take place during the week commencing 8 August in London. Two further rounds of recruitment will take place up to March 2012.
