SAPS grants available for teachers and technicians to develop new teaching resources in plant science topics

Science & Plants for Schools (SAPS) have grants of up to £500 available to teachers or technicians who create new teaching resources for the plant science topics. To qualify for a SAPS Associate Award, the teacher or technician needs to be registered as a (free-to-join) SAPS Associate and engaged in secondary and post-16 science education in the UK.

SAPS Associate Awards support teachers or technicians working in one of the following areas:

  • producing a plant-based teaching resource that can be used in other schools or colleges
  • undertaking an opportunity that will advance the applicant’s knowledge/ practice in relation to plant science teaching and learning (beyond conventional CPD courses)
  • others at the discretion of the SAPS office

Grants will be particularly awarded for activities which focus on areas of interest for new SAPS resources, offer a novel presentation of plant science in the classroom, may lead to RARE (Relevant, Affordable, Reliable and Engaging) resources, or are an entirely new topic not currently covered by SAPS.

To apply for a SAPS Associate Award, applicants need to complete and return the entry form found on the SAPS website before 7 October 2011 for the current Autumn round of applications.
