STEM skills: hope for economic future

In its pre-budget briefing the Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE) argues that investment in education, research and development is crucial to helping the UK reduce the budget deficit.

CaSE Director Imran Khan, suggests that 'The UK now has an extraordinary opportunity to become a knowledge-intensive economy and fix our public finances at the same time. We must seize it.'

This report echoes conclusions from the CBI's 2010 Education and Skills survey, in which business leaders call on government to ensure that science and mathematics have continued prominence in the school curriculum.
