Are you new to teaching A level Mathematics? If so, then our residential summer school offers an opportunity to deepen your subject knowledge and develop new teaching approaches.

The course is fully sponsored by the Clothworkers' Foundation, enabling us to offer attendance at no cost to teachers.

If you are about to teach A level Mathematics for the first time in September, have only been teaching A level for a short while, or are planning to teach A level in the future then this residential summer school will offer you the chance to:

  • Increase your subject knowledge and deepen your understanding
  • Explore a variety of teaching approaches to deliver key A level concepts
  • Discover vital practical approaches to teaching applied mathematics

This residential summer school will give you the confidence, knowledge and resources to engage and support your A level students.

Further information

  • All sessions will focus on a piece of A level content and specific teaching approach.
  • The majority of sessions will be on pure mathematics covering materials from Core 1-4 with an emphasis on topics from Core 1 and 2.
  • There will be sessions on applied mathematics covering mechanics, statistics and decision.
  • There will also be an introduction to the work of the National STEM Centre, the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics and the Further Mathematics Support Programme.
  • Evening entertainment is provided including talks from Colin Wright (on the mathematics of juggling) and Rob Eastaway (author of Why do Buses Come in Threes? and many other popular mathematics books).
  • Conference-style accommodation and all meals are provided.
