Third and final call for Engineering Project Proposals

Deadline for Expressions of Interest: 5.00pm on Monday, 7 February 2011

Deadline for Full Proposals: 5.00pm on Thursday, 10 March 2011

The Royal Academy of Engineering is supporting the National HE STEM Programme through collaborations with the Higher Education Institutions to encourage the exploration of new approaches to recruiting students and delivering programmes of study in engineering. It will enable the transfer of good practice across the HE STEM sector, facilitate its wider adoption, and encourage innovation.

Funding has been secured to support engineering activity in England and Wales. Working in collaboration with the HEA Engineering Subject Centre, this is the last invitation to HE staff involved in Engineering Education to bid for funding and support for development projects in support of the aims of the National HE STEM Programme. Proposals will be accepted from any Welsh or English HEI working in collaboration with partner HEIs and/or the Academy. The Programme will not seek to undertake short-term interventions, but will focus on sustainable activities with the potential to achieve long-term impact within the Higher Education sector.

Proposals should be related to one of the following three proposals:

  • 1 HE Innovation Projects including Employer Engagement
  • 2 Engineering for Society: Diversity and Inclusion in Engineering Education
  • 3 Education Research

The Royal Academy of Engineering is inviting proposals from individuals or small teams of staff who are interested in developing innovative activity in one of the three key themes mentioned above. They will provide funding and support in undertaking one-year projects, and will require the learning from projects to be reported to the Academy for further dissemination across the sector.
