Ways into Work: views of children and young people on education and employment

City & Guilds have produced a report, Ways into Work: views of children and young people on education and employment, which presents an analysis of young people's views around education and employment.

The findings come as a result of an online survey of 3 000 young people in the age group 7-18. The report calls for:

  • More emphasis placed on the practical application of Maths and English in schools, to ensure young people have the skills employers need
  • More work experience - young people are not getting the right placements to prepare them for success in the labour market
  • Better and more targeted career guidance to help young people into work
  • Entrepreneurship must be supported and encouraged
