Women of Outstanding Achievement Awards 2011 - winners announced

Seven women at the forefront of science, engineering and technology were honoured last night at the Royal Academy of Engineering in London, as the winners of the UKRC Women of Outstanding Achievement Awards 2011.

These awards recognise women who are 'an inspiration to others'. Their portraits, including short biographies, can be found on the UKRC website and will eventually be displayed in the halls of leading scientific professional bodies and academic institutions.

The seven winners are listed below:

  • For Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Academia and Research) - Professor Eileen Ingham BSc, PhD
  • For Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Business and Industry) - Cary Marsh BEng (Hons)
  • For Inspiration and Leadership (Academia and Research) - Professor Dame Ann Dowling DBE, FRS, FREng
  • For Inspiration and Leadership (Business and Industry) - Dervilla Mitchell BE, FREng, CEng, MICE
  • For communicating SET to Society - Kate Bellingham BA, MSc, MIET, DTech
  • Tomorrow's Leader - Eur Ing Dr Phebe Mann MA (Cantab), MSc, PhD, CEng, MICE, MRICS, MCIOB, MCIArb, FHEA, FSA
  • Lifetime Achievement - Professor Dame Athene Donald DBE, FRS
